Bags are Packed, Madison are you here yet?

As the time gets closer to 'go' time, we wanted to be ready to hustle to the hospital when duty called. There is a bag for mom, a bag for baby and a breastfeeding pillow. There's even a set of clothes for Max to sleep in at the hospital. His blanket and pillows are in the car! We're ready.......

I think it is funny that all of our stuff is green and brown...it looks like we are having a boy. Haha..I was so paranoid not to go overboard with the pink that I might have overdone it. Oh well, we can just call it neutral.

9 Day Countdown - 5/31

Another relaxing weekend day.
  • Started off with an hour of reading outside in the sun. Currently, I am reading a book Misty lent me about a lady who has multiple personalities. It's actually a true story about someone here in the DFW area. Very interesting...
  • Errand running: Babies'r'us and the weekly grocery run
  • Packing the bags for the hospital
  • Currently, I am writing this as I watch my husband cook a delicious dinner: chicken fried rice; I'm one lucky lady to have a husband that not only is willing and likes to cook, but that cooks delicious food too
  • Because we are in between TV shows (the Tudors ended last weekend and Weeds starts next weekend) we will be watching the MTV Movie Awards with Alex, who will be staying one more night with us

Off to work tomorrow with one last week before maternity leave.

My Dad with a Wig...nope that's me!

I was reluctant to add this photo, but it was the only one capturing Lacey and me at her birthday dinner last week. The husband's and us, along with her sister, Meredith, and Cooper, nephew, went to a Japanese steakhouse where they entertained us with cool knife and fire tricks as they cooked on the grill that served as our table.

The icing on the cake (literally) was the dessert she had! It was ordered from this place here in Southlake called 'Nothing Bundt Cakes' and I'm not kidding it is amazing. Like the name says, they only serve bundt cakes and I don't care because with something so delicious I don't want them to serve anything else. If you ever want to indulge, check it out. They ship and deliver too! Bon appetit!

10 Day Countdown - 5/30

Well, it may be longer or shorter than 10 days, but I wanted to be sure to chronicle these last remaining days so I could capture the true essence of what I did prior to baby being born and the last few remaining 'quiet' moments. We were lucky to have a guest, Max's brother Alex, to snap a photo of the both of us.

Saturday, May 30th:
  • Ran to the bank to pay some bills
  • Picked up a comforter for the guest bedroom so that our future guests had something to sleep in/on/with when they arrive. Totally scored at TJ Maxx!
  • Went with Max and Alex to their cousin's graduation lunch in Denton. Nothing like those delicious rolls at Logan's Roadhouse.
  • 3:15pm movie - Wolverine....very good....tough competition, however, after just seeing Star Trek and Terminator...saving the girl movies for when I am at home alone :)
  • Hanging out at the house with Max and Alex....fajitas, lots of water to flush this swelling and perhaps an early bedtime

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Swollen.....More

I thought I was in bad shape before when I needed to upgrade the rings for my puffy fingers, but the last few days swelling has taken its toll on my feet and ankles. Typically and end of day gift and thank goodness it isn't painful, but it sure makes for some hysterical photos. All the more reason to take advantage of a little R&R and the fact that my husband is being super sweet and waiting on me hand and foot.

Behold............Ms. Piggy's feet..........

I can't believe my mom was able to walk a mile a day up until I was born. Wow, haha, not me on these swine hooves. :)

Baby Shower Activity Results

I mentioned in a previous post the shower here in DFW and the fun activity of making cute baby outfits/onesies/bibs/etc. and I wanted to show them off. Fresh from the dryer are some of my favorites.....

And of course weenie dogs are being represented on some of her clothes. Madison has no idea that she has three new best friends just waiting for her (on second thought with all the barking they do she might have a small idea)!

Memorial Day

Max and I took every American liberty today to celebrate the day off. Of course we gave a strong salute to those serving our country, but included a trip to the pool and delicious barbecue.

Please do not be alarmed by the beached whale in a bikini. :) I didn't feel like buying a bathing suit if I'm going to have the baby soon. The bikini fit and oila! I really wanted to go to the pool to see how buoyant the belly was, but surprisingly it does not float very well. Swimming was fun and super refreshing, however, on such a hot day.
**Additional note, I am wearing bikini bottoms it just doesn't look like it.

Baby Shower - DFW Style

Last weekend, Misty (sister), Lacey (best friend) and Danielle (co-worker and friend) threw me a shower here in the DFW area. It was so perfect and a very special day with close friends! These ladies left no detail overlooked.....just look at the pictures it was so adorable. Not only was the food spread so delicious, it looked cute too.

Misty, me, Danielle and Lacey

Mmmm....bundt cake

Don't be fooled it is no edible cake. It is a diaper cake! So clever.
I didn't get any good pictures of the 'activity' from the shower, but couldn't let it go unmentioned. The ladies bought several different types of baby apparel....onesies, bibs and hats in pink and white for everyone to decorate. Now, I'm set with so many cute outfits for baby. Pictures of those to come.

Nursery Decor

Not ready for the BIG reveal yet, but we are getting closer. Last weekend, we put up some more wall decoration in the nursery. I have no idea to what to call this style, but maybe.......AWESOME pretty much sums it up. We'll probably add some more circles for effect, but a little peak for those interested in seeing how the room is developing.

There's a Baby on Board

36 Weeks and Counting!

Nesting

Nesting has begun! Last week I felt like I was on crack and could not sit down. Why you ask.....well because everything in my life and our house had to be in perfect order. Max was such a good sport because I greeted him every day with a new task list which he sweetly completed. We're not 100% done with everything, but this house is really whipping in to shape.
The picture is of a portion of our bathroom pantry. Organized and stocked!

Swollen

The inevitable is happening.....my hands are swelling. My wedding ring no longer fits on the ring finger. Sigh.....

Baby Has a New Set of Wheels

Last weekend, Dad and Natalia bought us the baby carrier system. This is one sleek puppy and is a car seat and stroller all in one! All hospitals require a car seat in order to take baby home and in the event that is sooner rather than later....we will be set.

Allie!

Reese!!

Calvin!!!

And of course, the dogs needed to test out the goods first. :)

Everybody Got a New Bed

On Sunday, we started at Babies 'R' Us where we purchased a mattress for the crib we put together on Friday. I know what you're thinking....that mattress on the car is the biggest baby mattress on the planet. It is indeed, but rather it is for the BIG babies in the family.....Max, me and the three dogs. We finally updgraded to a king size bed and we couldn't be happier.
Unfortunately, delivery is not an option on a Sunday, but we wanted that bed gosh darnit. So, we did the best strap job we could and drove about 12 miles (highway inluded) with one arm out holding that mattress as best we could. It caught flight a few times, but we did indeed sleep in that bed last night! Aaaaaahhhhhh, is all I can say.
The even better news is that our guest room is now equipped with a queen size bed! This is a total win for everyone!

Unwinding from Breastfeeding Class

After our very long afternoon at Breastfeeding class, we treated ourselves to a little fun at Main Event....bowling and some sweet arcade games. What I learned:

1) Misty and Tim are a mean tag-team at killing aliens with a gun (as is Max with the gun game he was playing)

2) I love ski ball!

3) Max came really close to winning a watch from the claw (yes, they now have enticing things for adults to play for)

Breastfeeding Class

I'm not sure exactly where to start....maybe with the photos? This was our last baby class and it was definitely a long four hours for the boys. Not to mention the awkwardness of talking about things like nipple and areola in front of your brother-in-law.

I'd like to introduce you to our baby: (there are questions it isn't Max's given the dark skin tones).... ;)

This is a picture of us clowning around after the long four hours. Please note the fake boob Misty is holding on to and the fact that Max is posing baby to look like Tim is nursing. Lucky Tim!

Very glad we did ALL of these classes and have such a great resource when we run into problems.
